The results indicated that the band of D-β-aspartic acid-containing proteins around 44.5 kDa mainly included alpha-enolase, S-arrestin, glial fibrillary acidic protein, ATP synthase subunit β, and ATP synthase subunit α. Most of the identified proteins were found in both the ocular hypertensive and normotensive retinas, but the results of the western blot analysis in Figure 1 indicated that the volume of D-β-aspartic acid-containing proteins around 44.5 kDa was much greater in the retinas with ocular hypertension than in the normotensive retinas. The gene discussed is ENO1; the disease is ocular hypertension.
