Chitinase activity was revealed as an independent biomarker with the power to distinguish patients with CRC having synchronous liver metastasis from patients with CRC without metastasis at their first visit after analyzing together with age, sex, T stage, N stage, CEA level, tumor location, tumor size, histological type, and schistosomiasis history in the multivariate Cox’s analysis. This evidence concerns the gene CEACAM5 and colorectal carcinoma.
