The gabapentinoids gabapentin, pregabalin (both are widely used for management of neuropathic pain, postherpetic neuralgia, diabetic neuropathy, trigeminal neuralgia, and restless legs syndrome) and mirogabalin (recently approved for neuropathic pain and postherpetic neuralgia in Japan) are ligands of the α2δ subunit of voltage-dependent calcium channels. This evidence concerns the gene ATXN2L and postherpetic neuralgia.
