The results of all pancreatitis and cholelithiasis patients showed that the absolute but not fractional liver-derived DNAs correlated well with ALT levels, suggesting that the absolute value is a better indication of the liver cell death than the fractional value due to the extra release from the blood cell (Spearman correlation 0.94 vs 0.58; Fig. 5d and Additional file 1: Figure S5B). This evidence concerns the gene GPT and pancreatitis.
