In the Cox proportional hazards model, with the addition of other variables significantly related to mortality (age, diabetes mellitus, Charlson comorbidity index without age, and BMI) and analytical parameters associated with bone and mineral metabolism, lipid profile and nutrition parameters (albumin, prealbumin, creatinine, and CPK), the HR of mortality in frail patients compared to non-frail patients was 2.34; 95%CI 1.39–3.95; p = .001. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and diabetes mellitus.
