In agreement with the proposed anti-inflammatory function of CTRP3, we observed an inverse correlation between CTRP3 and classical markers of inflammation or sepsis, such as interleukin 6 (r = −0.266, p = 0.001, Figure 2a), procalcitonin (r = −0.207, p = 0.009, Figure 2b), C-reactive protein (r = −0.390, p < 0.001), TNF-α (r = −0.399, p = 0.018), and soluble CD87 (soluble urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR), r = −0.251, p = 0.003) (Table 3). This evidence concerns the gene C1QTNF3 and Sepsis.
