Anemia, defined as low blood hemoglobin (Hb) concentration, is a significant health problem globally and is associated with adverse health effects, and wide‐ranging social and economic development issues.1 According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1.62 billion people worldwide are affected by anemia, with the highest prevalence observed in low‐ and middle‐income countries. This evidence concerns the gene GSTM1 and anemia (phenotype).
