Following these studies, expression of this gene in human samples with CML was also investigated (33 patients in blast crisis phase and 57 cases in chronic phase) and the results showed that Msi2 expression at progressive CML stages (blast crisis) is placed on the higher levels to primary levels of CML (chronic phase) and this overexpression of Msi2 has an inverse relationship with the Numb gene in the both blast crisis and chronic phase. This evidence concerns the gene NUMB and chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
