Combining this reported evidence with our results, where a high number of OMVs were released by A. salmonicida during intracellular infection (Figures 4f,g), we hypothesize that the presence of OMVs during intracellular infection might be related to a mechanism by which the bacterium tolerates the action of host AMPs or translocate virulence factors to the host cell. Here, ADSL is linked to infection.
