Decreased levels of IFN-γ, but increased levels of IL-17A, monokine induced by gamma interferon (MIG) and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), were revealed as early predictors of T. cruzi infection in the presence of either high or low parasitemia, while T. cruzi-infected infants also displayed increased levels of IL-6 and IL-17F, but only in the presence of low parasitemia (Volta et al., 2016). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and parasitic infectious disease.
