The chemokine receptor CXCR3 (the receptor for the chemokines CXCL9 and CXCL10) was shown to be important for epidermal localization of effector T cells and TRM cell development (Mackay et al., 2013), which led to studies on CXCR3 expression in vitiligo patients. The gene discussed is CXCR3; the disease is vitiligo.
