Ipatasertib is a highly selective small-molecule inhibitor of Akt (Akt1, Akt2, and Akt3) [13–15], and is in development as a single agent and in combination with other therapies for the treatment of cancers in which activation of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway is involved in tumor growth or therapeutic resistance [16, 17]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is cancer.
