In previous studies, the tumor suppressor and/or the chemosensitizing activity of miR-126-3p has been linked to down-modulation of different target genes, among which are, for instance, VEGFA and PIK3R2 in non-small cell lung cancer and breast cancer [42], IRS1 in breast cancer [42] EZH2 in gastric cancer [59] SLC7A5 in renal carcinoma [60], CFLAR/c-FLIP in cervical cancer [58], CXCR4 in colon and thyroid cancer [42, 46]. The gene discussed is PIK3R2; the disease is breast cancer.
