NLRP3-immunocompromised septic patients who survived and recovered from sepsis (n = 3) did not have detectable levels of IL-6 in their plasma at 120 days after the septic episode (Fig. 3a, Supplementary Fig. 3a), but their NLRP3 inflammasome could be activated normally (Fig. 3b, Supplementary Fig. 3b).
