Recently, in addition to many relevant gain-of-function mutations in oncogenes including Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) and K-RAS3,4, loss-of-function mutations in tumor suppressors such as liver kinase B1 (LKB1) are proved to play a pivotal role in NSCLC initiation and progression5. This evidence concerns the gene STK11 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
