Some studies showed that MALAT1 inhibited the expression of E-cadherin and induced the expression of vimentin at mRNA and protein levels, while miR-1 inhibited the expression of vimentin and MMP-9 while enhancing the expression of E-cadherin in Western blot results, which can be summarized as MALAT1 and miR-1 having opposite effects on the migration and invasion of breast cancer cells. This evidence concerns the gene MALAT1 and breast cancer.
