BRAF and metastatic malignant neoplasm in the lymph nodes: Although many studies have shown an association between BRAF V600E mutation and lymph node metastasis in PTC, the 2015 ATA guidelines note that, “the presence of BRAF V600E mutation in the primary PTC should not impact the decision for prophylactic central neck dissection” due to low positive predictive value of the test for disease recurrence [1].
