TIMP2 and acute kidney injury: Former studies suggest that elevated levels of cystatin C and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) are associated with increased risk for AKI and adverse outcome postarrest [9–12], whereas the product of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2 (TIMP-2) and insulin-like growth factor binding protein 7 (IGFBP7) only seems to predict AKI [9].
