HOTAIR has been shown to function as an oncogene since its expression is dysregulated in multiple types of cancers, including breast, lung, liver, renal, hepatocellular, gastric, nasopharyngeal, cervical, colorectal, bladder, pancreatic cancer, as well as melanoma, leukemia, etc. [9,10,11,12,13].
