The important role of STAT3 for OSM-induced signaling in osteoblasts has also been demonstrated by the finding that OSM-induced activation of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p21WAF1, CIP1, SD11 in the human osteosarcoma cell line MG-63 can be inhibited by transfection with a dominant negative Stat3 plasmid (47). The gene discussed is STAT3; the disease is osteosarcoma.
