In agreement with our data, previous studies demonstrated that the transcription factor C/EBPβ, as an upstream regulator of the COX-2 gene, was significantly elevated in various cancer tissues such as colorectal cancer, human ovarian epithelial tumor, gastric carcinoma (Regalo et al., 2006), prostate cancer (Wang et al., 2007), and human HCC (Lu et al., 2012), further confirming an active role for C/EBPβ in tumorigenesis and cancer development. This evidence concerns the gene CEBPB and colorectal cancer.
