Interestingly, increased cytoplasmic SPTAN1 was detectable not only in colon adenomas and carcinomas but also in Crohn's disease and tumor environment and other epithelial neoplasms including adenocarcinomas of breast, stomach, and small intestine, suggesting enhanced SPTAN1 level as a nonspecific marker for neoplasia of both benign and malignant origin [28]. Here, SPTAN1 is linked to adenocarcinoma.
