Both fasting glucose and insulin levels were significantly (p < 0.001) increased at week 50 in all treated groups, as shown in the calculations of the glucose-stimulated insulin secretion (GSIS) (Figure 1(c)) and in the calculated homeostatic assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), steady state β-cell function (%β), steady-state % insulin sensitivity (%S), and insulin resistance (IR) scores (Table 1).
