The results of our study are in line with prior studies demonstrating that diets with low-glycemic index, including ones based on recommendations from the ADA, improve glycemic control in people with metabolic syndrome, pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes.30,33 A 2016 meta-analysis of dietary approaches to reduce inflammation in metabolic syndrome34 demonstrated that low-fat diets reduced CRP compared to other diets.
