The monoclonal antibody trastuzumab (Herceptin), used to treat HER2+ breast cancer (Baselga et al., 1996; Pegram et al., 1998) has been shown to block proteolysis of the HER2 receptor tyrosine kinase as part of its mechanism of action (Molina et al., 2001).
