Interestingly, it was suggested that MacroH2A1 isoforms may have different effects [18, 27], since reduced MacroH2A1.1 expression has been associated with a more aggressive phenotype [25, 26], whereas increased MacroH2A1.1 correlated with poor prognosis in triple-negative breast cancer patients [23].
