In the AOM/DSS mouse model, 2.5%, 5%, or 10% (wt%) lyophilized strawberry significantly decreased tumor incidence, suppressed nitrosative stress, decreased the inflammation mediators TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, COX-2 and iNOS, and inhibited the phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), Akt (Protein Kinase B), extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), and NFκB [18]. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is infectious otitis media.
