Genetic engineering models can produce IBD in animals, such as muc-2 deficiency, muc-2/C3GnT dual deletion, muc-2/Core 1-derived O-glycans deficiency, P-gp deficiency, T-bet knockout, IKK-γ or IKK-β deletion, STAT3 deficiency, STAT3/IL-22 dual deficiency, XBP1 deletion, IL-10 deficiency, and IL-7 overexpression [2,11]. Here, MUC2 is linked to inflammatory bowel disease.
