Assays for cTnI and cTnT are the gold standard for detection of myocardial injury.22,23 The excellent sensitivity of these assays is the result of decades of optimization.24,25 Using proteomics, we have recently identified a new cardiac biomarker, cMyBP-C, which may allow for an earlier detection and better rule-in/rule-out of MI.3,4 In our assessment, cMyBP-C detected myocardial injury with a higher accuracy than hs-cTnT and hs-cTnI in the controlled TASH model. Here, TNNI3 is linked to myocardial infarction.
