Although Telstam and co-workers [101] have reported that the knock-in of a non-achievable IKKα kinase (IkkαAA/AA) in the bone marrow of ApoE−/− mice had no effect on atherosclerosis, we would like to stress here that these IkkαAA/AA mice had no defects specific for the loss of the IKKα function in the original descriptions of the paper regarding these mice [102].
