Only two out of the 138 prioritized genes were nominally significant in the TCGA-KIRC dataset, namely SIPA1L2 (p = 0.036), which encodes the signal-induced proliferation-associated 1 like 2, and EIF3A (p = 0.048), which encodes the eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3 subunit A. Both of these genes have been previously linked to unfavorable prognosis in other cancers (Minato and Hattori, 2009; Yin et al., 2018). The gene discussed is SIPA1L2; the disease is cancer.
