In fact, the ERα variant rs2234693 was linked to coronary heart disease among Finnish men (89), whereas a study of a Dutch cohort showed that ERα variants, rs2234693, and rs9340799, were associated with increased risk of myocardial infarction (MI) and ischemic heart disease (IHD) only in postmenopausal women, but not in men (90). This evidence concerns the gene ESR1 and myocardial ischemia.
