Leucine‐rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) is a 2527 amino acid, multifunctional protein endowed with a kinase domain and a Ras of complex (ROC) domain with GTPase activity, surrounded by protein‐protein interaction domains.1, 2 Mutations in the LRRK2 gene are associated with familial late‐onset 3, 4 and sporadic 5 Parkinson's disease (PD). This evidence concerns the gene LRRK2 and Parkinson disease.
