The majority of retinal diseases are associated with reactive gliosis.37, 38, 39 The astrocytes and Müller glia cells become reactive during the pathogenesis of glaucoma, characterized by morphologic alterations and expression changes.40, 41, 42 We found that the observed loss of RGC cells is accompanied by changes of the macroglia cells in the retinae of the βB1‐CTGF mice. This evidence concerns the gene CCN2 and Abnormal retinal morphology.
