Shi L et al. found that Beta glucan of lentinus edodes can alleviate DSS-induced colonic inflammatory cell infiltration in mice, reduce the concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA) and myeloperoxidase (MPO), and inhibit iNOS and TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 and phosphorylation of JNK/ERK1/2 and p38, which suggested that Beta glucan of lentinus edodes can inhibit DSS-induced ulcerative colitis and reduce the expression of inflammatory factors, and its molecular mechanism may be involved in the inhibition of MAPK pathway and inactivate Elk-1 and activate PPARγ [69].
