Overall, in vitro generated TAM had high expression of several tumor-derived chemoattractants including chemokines CCL2(MCP-1), CCL7(MCP-3), macrophage inflammatory protein (MIP)-1β, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-α, which have been shown to promote monocyte recruitment to tumors in experimental mouse models of lung, breast, and pancreatic cancer [30–33] (Fig. 6).
