It has reported that miR-188-5p plays distinct roles in different type of cancers by directly targeting multiple genes in a variety of scenarios as such MMP-2/13, MAP3K3, ZFP91, UBE2I, β-catenin, FGF5, LAPTM4B, Cyclins and CDKs in non-small-cell lung cancer, gastric cancer, glioma, hepatocellular carcinoma, prostate cancer or nasopharyngeal carcinoma [33–40].
