Variables that showed a significant association with severe CaCs (≥400 HU) were: age (OR 1.05; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.02–1.08), haemodialysis (OR 2.85; 95%CI 1.40–5.83), type 2 diabetes (OR 4.92; 95%CI 1.89–12.8), previous cardiologic events (OR 7.59; 95%CI 2.49–23.2) and low serum albumin values (OR 2.92; 95%CI 1.31–6.50). Here, ALB is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
