Various sex genes have been linked to ALS [3,4], spanning from control of oxidative stress (Cu–Zn superoxide dismutase, SOD1) [5], to intracellular trafficking [6,7,8], RNA metabolism (TDP-43, Fus) [9,10,11], or of a yet unclear function (C9orf72) [12,13]. The gene discussed is SOD1; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
