Mice lacking interferon signalling, such as A129 (type I IFNAR KO) [49], interferon regulatory factor (IRF) 3/5/7 triple KO [49], and AG129 (type 1 and type2 IFN KO) [51], are susceptible to ZIKV infection with detectable ZIKV in the brain, spinal cord, and testes; these mice died within 5–10 days post-infection.
