ALB and Ascites: It is well known that the prognosis of HCC patients is dependent on tumor burden and hepatic reserve function.13, 25, 26 Especially for those who undergo TKI treatment, hepatic function has been shown to be the most important prognostic factor.27, 28, 29 Although Child‐Pugh score and class are used for assessment of hepatic function worldwide,9 they have been shown to be problematic when calculated using semiquantitative scoring, and also known to include both confounding (eg, albumin, ascites) and nonobjective (ascites, hepatic encephalopathy) factors.
