Silencing KLF8 expression significantly attenuated gastric cancer cell proliferation21, 22 and invasion.22 KLF8 is also an important regulator of TGF‐beta‐17 or hypoxia‐23 induced EMT and an inducer of hypoxia‐dependent multidrug resistance13 and angiogenesis.24 High KLF8 expression is generally regarded as a negative predictor of survival for gastric cancer.24, 25 However, whether KLF8 plays other functions in gastric cancer has not been investigated.
