To investigate the significance of 4EBP1 overexpression in breast cancer, we employed a set of human breast cancer cell lines representing ER+ and ER- samples, including SUM-44, SUM-52, and Cama-1 (ER+, amplicon bearing), MCF-7, T47D, and HCC1500 (ER+, non-amplicon bearing), and SUM-229, as well as two non-tumorigenic but immortalized mammary epithelial cell lines, MCF10A, and H16N2 cells. The gene discussed is EIF4EBP1; the disease is breast cancer.
