The DNA methylation status is a surrogate marker for CLL patient subgroups that overexpress the ZAP70 kinase and the mutational status of the BCR‐immunoglobulin genes that allow prognostic dichotomization of CLL into more or less aggressive cases (Cahill et al, 2013; Claus et al, 2014). This evidence concerns the gene BCR and B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
