By analyzing histone modification hallmarks of enhancers in colon cancer, we identified three putative enhancers located downstream of CYR61. In this study, we demonstrate that two of these three enhancers were aberrantly activated in CRC and, combined with FOXA1 and CBP, play key roles in the activation of CYR61 expression in colorectal cancer. The gene discussed is CCN1; the disease is colonic neoplasm.
