ALS-increased genes most strongly elevated in high altitude subjects included COMM domain containing 6 (COMMD6), C-type lectin domain family 2 member B (CLEC2B), and ribosomal protein L31 (RPL31) (Fig. 4f) and as a group these genes were associated with protein targeting to membrane, mRNA decay and interferon-beta synthesis (Fig. 4h). Here, CLEC2B is linked to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
