The expression of CRP during the course of parasitic infection in the goldfish, Carassius auratus, was also determined (34); goldfish CRP, which has 214 amino acid residues and has subunits of 25.6 kDa, enhances complement-mediated killing of trypanosomes in vitro, and lysis increases after addition of immune serum. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and parasitic infectious disease.
