ADAM10 is a member of the ADAM metalloprotease family, which is a key proteinase responsible for the processing of amyloid precursor protein (APP) to prevent the excessive production of the pathogenic amyloid β (Aβ) peptide (Postina et al., 2004; Kuhn et al., 2010), a hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Here, ADAM10 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
