Indeed, in glioblastoma (A172, U87, U118, and U251), NSCLC (H1299 and A549), and cervical cancer cells (HeLa), inhibitor of Bcl-xL (A-1331852) or Bcl-2/Bcl-xL (ABT-263) but not Bcl-2 (ABT-199) further reduced the viability of cells treated with KPT-330 at the dose capable of downregulating Mcl-1 (Fig. 1c), indicating that the remaining Bcl-xL rather than Bcl-2 confers to KPT-330 resistance in these cells. The gene discussed is BCL2L1; the disease is cervical carcinoma.
