In ccRCC, hypoxia-induced miR-101 expression can be a mechanism for activating glycolysis, as miR-101 inhibits the TIGAR (TP53-Induced Glycolysis and Apoptosis Regulator) gene, which is a member of the p53 pathway that is involved in mediating the exchange to the pentose phosphate pathway (Xu et al., 2017). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is nonpapillary renal cell carcinoma.
