Both fission (phosphorylated and total DRP1) (Fig. 2A) and fusion (MFN1, MFN2, OPA1) (Fig. 2B) markers increased significantly in the LV hearts from CAD subjects compared to non-CAD controls (P/T DRP1: Non-CAD 1 ± 0.2 and CAD 3.6 ± 1.3* n = 7; MFN1: Non-CAD 1 ± 0.2 and CAD 3.6 ± 0.5*; MFN2: Non-CAD 1 ± 0.4 and CAD 5.6 ± 0.3, n = 9; *p < 0.05 for CAD vs Non-CAD LV lysates). Here, MFN2 is linked to coronary artery disorder.
